About Punta del Este

Punta del Este is a city and one of the premier resort cities in South America. It is located on the Atlantic Coast in the Maldonado Department in Uruguay, which is about 1.5 hours away via a scenic drive from the capital Montevideo, or a 30 min flight from Buenos Aires, Argentina. The city offers cultural attractions, sophistication, excellent restaurants, natural beauty, and fabulous beaches (the event takes place close to the end of spring, so we suggest participants to bring their swim suits and enjoy these beaches).

Although the city has a year-round population of about 10.000, the summer tourist boom adds to this a very large number of non-residents (nearly half a millon). Punta del Este has a mild oceanic climate, with pleasant summers and cool winters. The precipitation is evenly distributed throughout the year, with an average of 1,010 mm (40 in). The hottest month, February, has an average temperature of 21.7 °C (71.1 °F), and the coldest month, July, has an average of 11.5 °C (52.7 °F). In particular, the end of November has a daily average of 20 ºC (68 ºF), with an average maximum of 23.8 ºC (74.8 ºF).
